Prof. Dr. Ahmed S. Abdul-Amir received an appreciation certificate from the University President (Prof. Dr. Emad Hussein Marzah Al-Husseini) and the 250 Initiative Committee for publishing research papers in international journals indexed in Clarivate Analytics – web of science database, for his participation with the research paper “An adaptive swing-up sliding mode controller design for a real inverted pendulum system based on Culture-Bees algorithm” in the European Journal of Control, on the celebration ceremony on 30-6-2019 held at the University of Technology.

Altaie) in the Computer Engineering Department participated in the conference, titled: (2nd International Conference on Applied and Industrial Mathematics and statistics, 2019) that was held by the Faculty of Science and Industrial Technology in Malaysia, on 23-25 / 7/2019, where he presented the research paper: (A Single Convergent Control Parameter Optimal Homotopy Asymptotic Method Approximate-Analytical Solution of Fuzzy Heat Equation) The Scientific Committee of the Conference selected the research for publication in the scientific journal (ASM Science) indexed in (Elsevier Scopus). |

The postgraduate second semester final examinations for the academic year (2018-2019) started on Wednesday 29-5-2019 and will end on 20-6-2019. The department head (Prof. Dr. Ahmed S. Al-Araji), accompanied by the scientific deputy (Asst. Prof. Dr. Hassan J. Hassan), went to see the examination process and ensure that it is conducted in the best conditions, in addition to providing positive atmosphere for the students who undertake the exams. Furthermore, guidance and advice were given to the academic staff and administrators of the examinations. |

The undergraduate second semester final examinations for the academic year (2018-2019) started on Sunday 26-5-2019 and will end on 20-6-2019. The University president (Prof. Dr. Ameen D. Al-Tamimy) accompanied by the Computer Engineering Department head (Prof. Dr. Ahmed S. Al-Araji) went to see the examination process and give guidance and advice regarding the exams. In addition, they urged the branches heads and faculty to make continuous efforts to ensure that it is conducted in the best condition, adhere to the examinations’ instructions, and provide positive atmosphere for the students. Furthermore, it should be noted that the department has completed all the arrangements concerning maintenance and preparations of the examination halls to guarantee completing the process in excellent way. |

Computer Engineering Department Participation in the University Annual Day Celebration

The Computer Engineering Department had been awarded a trophy shield by the university presidency in the celebration of the university annual day on 17-April-2019, for excellence and quick responses in administrative and scientific paperwork. This followed by awarding the Department head (Prof. Dr. Eng. Ahmed S. Abdel-Amir) by an appreciation certificate from the University of Technology President (Prof. Dr. Eng. Amin D. Thamer) for his promotion to the academic rank professor. In his speech, the department head expressed the academic staff delight for getting the outputs of their scientific and administrative labor through this academic year. Furthermore, he encouraged them to keep up the same approach of giving and serving the community and implementing and achieving all goals of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. In addition, the department participated in the scientific project’s exhibition, by presenting a number of student’s projects which are completed during the academic year 2018-2019 under the supervision of faculty members (Asst. Prof. Dr. Eng. Mohammed N. Abdullah and Lecturer Mohammed A. Nadhum). The presented projects were linked to the requirements of the Iraqi labor market to serve our society and country. |

In line with the vision and guidance of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Department of Computer Engineering held its second scientific workshop about the courses system on Tuesday, 9-April-2019, at the conference hall of the department. The workshop presented, the system’s objectives and requirements, the syllabi preparation mechanism, determination process of compulsory and elective courses (university, college, department), and defining each course prerequisites and unique code assignment mechanism. Furthermore, the workshop deliberating about the instructions for courses registration, the withdrawal mechanism, transfer of students, the cumulative average calculation, and students’ academic counselling. The discussion also included instructions about the student's university number, the examination process, and the students' absences. Furthermore, Asst. prof. Dr. Intisar A. Majid from the Elite University contributed her course system experience through a lecture. The department head (Prof. Dr. Eng. Ahmed S. Al-Araji) attended the workshop along with the other academic staff of the department. |

The conference was held at the University of Technology – Baghdad, Iraq, and has been very successful in presenting participants applied scientific research. |

The implementation of government program (Computer Engineering Department visiting professor)

Prof. Dr. Eng. Hamed S. Al-Rowaishidi, from Brunel University London, UK, was invited to the Computer Engineering Department at the University of Technology to be a visiting professor to give a lecture on future research in Computer Engineering, Networking and Information Technology on Tuesday, 23-April-2019 as a part of implementing the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research governmental program. The lecture was presented in the presence of the department head, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ahmed S. Al-Araji, accompanied by his deputies, head of branches, and faculty members. The lecture was focused on developing the faculty members skills in the preparation of research in the department relevant engineering specializations. Furthermore, it introduced the useful mechanism to publish in the indexed, and reputed scientific journals. In addition, the visiting professor discussed the importance of constructing a specialized research center for communications and information technology to cope with the huge and rapid development in this field. All the presented topics were aimed towards serving the department, university, community, and our beloved country. |

In consonance with directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which includes the adopting of United Nations Office vision for a global strategy for disaster risk reduction. A seminar entitled "Disaster and its effects" was held in the conference hall of the Computer Engineering Department on Thursday, 2-May-2019. The seminar was presented by M.Sc. Baidaa A. Hassouni and M.Sc. Sajia Z. Khader to introduce the disasters types and the impact resulting from each type, then the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction was explained, which is one of the UN projects, for the period 2015-2030. |

The first applied scientific exhibition was held in the Computer Engineering Department at the University of Technology, in fulfillment to the requirements of the Iraqi market, to establish a link between the labor market and the student’s scientific projects, where more than 35 scientific and applied engineering projects constructed by the undergraduate students. The exhibition activities were started by the University President (Prof. Dr. Eng. Amin D. Thamer), in the presence of the department head (Prof. Dr. Eng. Ahmed S. Al Araji) with faculty members and students to view these projects which were supervised by the faculty members (Lecturer Mohammed A. Nadhum, Asst. Lecturer Ali Emad). The department staff introduced the best wishes for the students for further development and success to serve our society and our beloved country. |
