Dr. Omar Janeh received his PhD in Informatics from University of Hamburg (2020). Dr. Janeh's research falls broadly under the field of human-computer interaction, with specialization in 3D user interfaces, virtual reality, and user interfaces for computer games.

His PhD work focused on developing standardized methods for the empirical comparison of different virtual walking techniques for VR Interaction. Particularly, investigating of how walking between a real and virtual environment varies across younger and older adults (e.g. Parkinson's disease), with the goal to understand the perceptual, cognitive, and motor differences. His PhD was supported by the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) Scholarship.

In 2013 he received his Master's degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Duisburg-Essen with the specific profile 'Interactive Systems & Visualization' within internationally oriented study program International Studies in Engineering. He finished his Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Technology, Baghdad in 2004.
